Our program embodies the proper attitudes toward injury and illness prevention by every employee. Rockford Corporation believes that in order to be successful, cooperation in all safety and health matters between supervisor and employee, and between employees' fellow workers is essential.  Only through such a cooperative effort can Rockford Corporation’s safety goals be achieved.

Rockford Corporation’s objective is a safety and health program that will surpass the best experience of other operations similar to ours.

Rockford Corporation recognizes that the responsibility for safety and health is shared. We are responsible for leadership of the safety and health program, for its effectiveness and improvement, and for providing the safeguards required to ensure safe conditions.

Rockford Corporation’s Safety Director is responsible for overall management and administration of the Injury & Illness Prevention Program. Our Supervisors are responsible for developing the proper attitudes towards safety and health in themselves and in those they supervise, and for ensuring that all operations are performed to meet our ultimate safety goal of zero accidents and injuries.

Rockford Corporation’s employees are expected to be responsible for wholehearted, genuine cooperation with all aspects of the safety and health program, including compliance with all the rules and regulations, and for continuously practicing safety while performing their duties. Employees are expected to follow safe and healthy work practices and those who do so have this fact recognized. We are committed to continually training and retraining our employees.

Rockford Corporation promptly and thoroughly investigates every occupational injury and illness to find out what caused it and to correct the problem so that it never happens again.

Rockford Corporation trains its Supervisors to familiarize them with the safety and health hazards to which our employees may be exposed. Our supervisors are responsible to see that those under their direction receive training on general workplace safety as well as specific instructions with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL ABUSE POLICY

Rockford Corporation believes drug abuse is a major health problem in society and has a direct and costly impact in the work place.  Worker safety and productivity are directly threatened by drug abuse at work.  No age group, economic level or demographic class is exempt from this danger.  Non-users are at risk because of impairment by drug using employees with whom they work.  Employees who use drugs are far more likely to have accidents, use sick leave and be absent or late.  Because of the dangers created by drug use in the work place and the costs associated with this problem, Rockford Corporation aggressively confronts this issue at all work sites. Rockford Corporation is committed to providing a safe and protective work environment for all.

Rockford Corporations objectives are to:

  • Increase employee awareness of the dangers of drug and alcohol use and/or abuse.

  • Eliminate the use, abuse, possession, sale, and/or distribution of alcohol and unauthorized drugs on Company premises.

  • Recognize that adverse changes in work, safety, attendance, and/or behavior may identify potentially affected employees.

  • Motivate and encourage affected employees to seek appropriate assistance with maximum confidentiality.

  • Retain successfully rehabilitated employees.

Rockford Corporation believes most drug-related problems can be prevented or treated and an employee rehabilitated. We encourage employees to take advantage of our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) or other appropriate and legitimate outside agencies for help with drug or alcohol problems. Our supervisors receive training regarding drug abuse and are taught to recognize the signs and symptoms of acute and chronic use. Rockford Corporation employs pre-employment drug screening of job applicants, "For-cause" testing when we have grounds to believe a person is under the influence, post accident testing, rehabilitation testing, and customer-required testing.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

Rockford Corporation stresses protection of the environment at all times and all personnel are instructed and trained in the proper handling, storage, and use of possible contaminants. During construction, we clean the working area daily to dispose of excess materials and debris. We remove trash from the job site as necessary. We dispose of oil, paint soaked rags and waste at a sanitary landfill and in accordance with applicable rules and regulations. When construction is complete all signs of temporary construction materials or any other vestiges of construction are cleaned and removed from the project site.
